HIRING MANAGER
REPORTS TO
This position reports to the Director of Human Resources at M. J. Kellner Co., Inc.
SUMMARY
The Hiring Manager is responsible for overseeing the recruitment process to fill open positions within the organization. This role involves collaborating with department heads to identify hiring needs, creating job descriptions, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations. The Hiring Manager ensures that the recruitment process is efficient and effective, and that the best candidates are selected to meet the organization’s needs. The Hiring Manager also maintains effective programs for onboarding, retention, promotion, and succession planning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Works with department heads to determine current and future hiring needs
- Develops and updates job descriptions and job specifications
- Reviews resumes and applications to identify quality candidates
- Conducts interviews with potential candidates, either individually or as part of a panel
- Makes final hiring recommendations and extends job offers to selected candidates
- Oversees the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company
- Works closely with the HR team to ensure a seamless recruitment process
- Ensures all hiring practices comply with legal and company policies
- Provides regular updates and reports on recruitment activities to management and executive leadership teams
- Performs other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management and professional staff as needed
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time, exempt position. The days and hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. This position often requires long hours and weekend work.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, or related field
- At least two years of broad HR experience
- Recent experience recruiting in multiple discipline areas and levels, including hiring for non-exempt, exempt, and leadership positions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
